Irene Looks Irate
With convection activity exploding near her developing eyewall, Hurricane Irene is taking shape and appears to be building into a very powerful tropical cyclone.  The present NHC forecast has landfall near Wilmington, NC as a Cat 3 hurricane.  A concern is that forecasters suggest it will reach Cat 4 strength but weaken before landfall.  Note, models are showing more agreement in this track.  Residents and visitors should start making preparations
