Waves and Wind from Sandy Continue to Impact NC
Rough sea conditions are being experienced along the NC coastline (see photo of Avalon Pier, taken ~9AM on 10/28). Waves have exceeded 18ft at Jennette's Pier.  But, fortunately, Sandy is forecast to pass around the Outer Banks. Overwash has occurred at a few locations, and Highway 12 has been closed south of Oregon Inlet.  Details on conditions and impacts in Dare County can be found here.  The next high tide in Nags Head will occur ~7:15PM, and stormy weather will continue into tomorrow.  The weather and road conditions should be monitored carefully.
