Arthur Follows Irene in NC

Surge (>2 m) during SW winds of Irene.
Hurricane Arthur is taking a track similar to 2011's Hurricane Irene.  Modeling and analysis of that event by Mulligan et al. (2014) revealed how important the path was to sound flooding in the west and east sides of the Pamlico and Albemarle sounds.  Sound residents need to be aware during Arthur.  Also, like Irene, this sound flooding could exceed 6 ft and lead to inlet opening.  But with the strength of Arthur, ocean overwash is also likely in many areas.
